Natural Fiber Guide is an editorially independent, slow-read field guide to the nine most widely woven natural fibers on Earth. Each guide is researched from primary sources — agricultural science, textile history, manufacturing standards — and revised regularly.
Textile historian and sustainability journalist. Elena studied textile history at SOAS University of London and spent over a decade covering fashion sourcing and fiber supply chains before launching Natural Fiber Guide. She writes and edits every guide on this site, with a focus on making the science behind a garment legible to the people who wear it.
How we write
Every guide is built from three kinds of source: the agricultural and textile science behind the fiber, the production and manufacturing standards that govern it (GOTS, OCS, RWS, GRS, and similar), and the historical and craft context that shaped how it is grown, spun, and worn today.
